The promise of luck does not offer a way out of ordinary life here, but turns identity into a provisional square within the game. In the «Scratch & Win» series, Zampogna transfers the grammar of the promotional ticket from a commercial surface to the space of portraiture, where the person is no longer merely the recipient of hope, but is measured according to its code. The possible prize thus operates as a media mythology: it promises individual transformation while reducing every desire to a predetermined, anonymous, repeatable combination.
The monochrome figure, frontally isolated against the enlarged graphics, retains a singularity that the promotional system attempts to absorb. The gaze and clasped hands preserve a concrete presence, but the succession of red and white silhouettes, resembling serial falls or acrobatics, places it within a repertoire of equivalent possibilities. Below, the barcode, numbering and verbal fragments replace narrative continuity with procedures of control and verification. Even the proverb, evoked in incomplete form, loses its function as shared knowledge and becomes a statement to be completed, as though common language could be subjected to the same aleatory logic as the prize.
The work therefore brings the contamination between «real reality» and «media reality» into the very construction of the individual. The person remains recognisable, but the surrounding field assigns them the unstable value of a result not yet verified. Compared with the earlier superimposition of faces and media windows, the game no longer appears as an alien image: it organises space, language and expectation. What remains for the viewer is not the concrete possibility of luck, but a programmed suspension in which hope survives only as long as its verification is deferred.
