Giocagiò turns the promise of fortune into a machine of classification, in which individual desire is measured and absorbed by the impersonal language of the game. In the Scratch & Win series, Zampogna does not depict the ticket as an object separate from life, but expands its grammar until it coincides with the space of experience. Rather than opening an escape route, the prize subjects human presence to a sequence of economic and combinatory equivalences. The hope for change thus survives only in the devalued form of a verification.

The seated figure interrupts the ticket’s fields without escaping their logic: placed among amounts, numbers and symbols, the person appears as both protagonist and stake. The drawn figure contrasts with the graphic precision of the words and signs, yet this difference does not restore individual autonomy. Instead, it exposes the process through which commercial codes incorporate a presence and convert it into an assessable surface. Dice and four leaf clovers promise chance and good fortune, while the multilingual repetition of winning formulas extends the device beyond any single national context. The playful invitation in the title therefore becomes an ambiguous command: it seems to offer participation, but assigns rules, values and possible outcomes in advance.

Within Zampogna’s investigation of the contamination between “real reality” and “media reality,” the work brings commercial communication into the very construction of identity. There is no longer a figure observed beside advertising, since the subject now inhabits its system of expectations. The irony of the lucky signs does not soften the tragic dimension of this capture. It reveals a contemporary condition in which even hope assumes the standardised form of a product. What remains for the viewer is only an apparent choice, organised by a machine that promises chance while producing equivalence.
