Super Enalotto 2

Super Enalotto 2 stages the promise of luck as a public code that assigns the individual a provisional identity, measured by its compatibility with the game. In the «Scratch & Win» series, the hope of economic change does not appear as a private desire, but as a media mythology already organised through numbers, prices and recognisable formulas. Zampogna thus takes the exchange between “real reality” and “media reality” initiated in earlier works to its extreme consequence: the person does not observe the device from outside, but exists within its grammar, as if ordinary life were one of the combinations submitted to the judgement of chance.

Enlarging the SuperEnalotto graphics until they coincide with the field of the work removes the receipt from its practical function and turns the brand, numerical sequence and price into a normative environment. The dominant pink unifies body and information, making both appear as data already printed and ready for circulation. Within this surface, the frontal figure preserves its singularity only in unstable form: its faint double weakens its substance, while the large orange animal shape links the mathematical promise of the game to a residue of superstition. Calculation and talisman do not contradict each other, but collaborate in the same production of desire.

The work therefore shifts the theme of luck from a possible win to the social construction of expectation. The game grants the individual a visible position, but only after translating that person into its impersonal signs; even the doubling of the figure suggests a replaceable identity, suspended between presence and simulacrum. Alongside the series’ irony, a harsher note emerges here: the mediocre catharsis promised by the prize does not erase the emptiness of the present, but makes it legible and repeatable. What remains is not the announcement of an outcome, but the image of a life provisionally held within the language of probability.
